Introduction

Membership contributions to the KVNR are based fairly on membership type, vessel type, tonnage and flag register. Shipping companies are always, in principle, ‘ordinary members’, and are obliged to register all their Dutch-flagged ships with the KVNR.

Non-shipowners who are still active in the maritime sector are eligible to become associated members. This could be, for example, a company that offers maritime training courses, or a bank that is involved in ship financing.

Calculating your membership fees

Members

Membership contributions are calculated on the basis of the amount, type, size and flag of the vessels under management or ownership of the member. There are three scales:

  • Scale 1 (0-10,000 tonnes): € 0.67 per tonne, with a minimum of € 460 and a maximum of € 2,861
  • Scale 2 (10,000 - 20,000 tonnes): € 0.57 per tonne
  • Scale 3 (> 20,000 tonnes): € 0.52 per tonne

Foreign flagged ships are discounted 50%.

The maximum contribution per ship is set at € 9,616.

The maximum contribution per member is set at € 194,667

Associate Members

Associate member contributions are based on the number of employees carrying out maritime related activities within the organisation:

  • € 1,290 for organisations with fewer than 3 employees;
  • € 2,580 for organisations with 3 to 10 employees;
  • € 5,610 for organisations with 10 to 50 employees;
  • € 8,415 for organisations with 50 to 250 employees;
  • € 11,220 for organisations with more than 250 employees.
